• MyGov, the citizen engagement platform launched by PM Modi in 2014, completed seven years on July 26.
• ‘MyGov Uttar Pradesh’ was jointly launched by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and CM Yogi Adityanath.
What is the purpose of MyGov platform?
• MyGov is a participatory governance initiative that has become a platform facilitating citizen engagement, where people can contribute their ideas towards core policy issues, give suggestions, feedback, and participate in the governance process through discussions, tasks, polls and talks.
• It was launched on July 26, 2014 by PM Modi.
• It was conceptualised as a common platform for citizens to crowdsource governance ideas from citizens.
• The platform has reached 1.85 crore registered users mark.
Highlights of the platform:
• MyGov has engaged with multiple ministries and government bodies at central and state level and has effectively bridged the void between government and citizens by empowering people to participate in government policy making processes.
• It provides an opportunity to citizens and all stakeholders to share their views on key governance issues across all stages by directly engaging with the government departments, policy makers and implementers.
• It is among the most active profiles on social media with around 5.10 crore users.
• The platform has also helped in expanding the outreach of the government.
• It has evolved into a complete and end-to-end engagement platform with a wide variety of engagement models as well as offering performance indicators of various flagship programmes of the government.
• MyGov has also launched state chapters including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Goa and Tamil Nadu.
• MyGov hosts Mann Ki Baat — Radio address of Prime Minister.
