• The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), premier telecom R&D centre of the department of telecommunications, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day celebrations on September 3.
• C-DOT’s Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) lab was launched for design, development and implementation of pan-India integrated alert system to be administered by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for effective disaster management, public alerting and hazard notification in emergency situations. Pilot projects were successfully implemented in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
C-DOT:
• Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is an autonomous telecom research & development body funded by the department of telecommunication.
• It was established in 1984 under the Society Registration Act XXI in 1984 to design and develop indigenous switching technology.
• C-DOT is presently engaged in developing state-of-the-art telecommunication technology to meet the needs of the Indian telecommunication network.
• It has offices in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
• As a torchbearer of indigenous telecom R&D, C-DOT continues to develop latest technology products in areas like optical, switching, wireless, security and network management while working on technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence, etc.
• C-DOT is appraised at CMMI Level 5 for its process practices for the development projects.
