Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launches NEAT 3.0

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched NEAT 3.0, a single platform to provide the best-developed Ed-Tech solutions and courses to students of the country.

The minister also launched AICTE prescribed technical books in regional languages.

What is NEAT?

• In September 2019, the government announced a public-private partnership (PPP) model, National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT), for using technology for better learning outcomes in higher education.

• The objective is to use Artificial Intelligence to make learning more personalised and customised as per the requirements of the learner.

• A number of Education Technology (Ed-Tech) companies have developed technologies in Adaptive Learning to address the diversity of learners and /or are offering certification in highly marketable skills.

• Through an open invitation and screening, companies are invited to showcase their products on a national portal developed for the learners, who may procure them based on their requirements.

• The aim of NEAT is to bring the best technological products in education pedagogy on a single platform for the convenience of learners. Technology products using Artificial Intelligence for customised learning or e-content in niche areas having highly employable skills would be identified for showcasing on the portal.

• AICTE is acting as the facilitator in the process while ensuring that the solutions are freely available to a large number of socially and economically backward students.

• NEAT has 58 Ed-Tech companies with 100 products that help to develop employable skills, capacity building, and bridge learning gaps.

• NEAT will be a game-changer in bridging the digital divide, especially among the economically disadvantaged students and also in fulfilling the knowledge-based requirement of India and the world.
