What is the purpose of TCIL?

Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL), a Miniratna company under the the department of telecommunications (DoT), launched first e-vehicle charging station in the South Delhi area.

This e-vehicle charging station is the first of 65 e-charging stations to be set up by TCIL in the next four months in South Delhi area.

• Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIL) is a Miniratna (Category-1) company, owned by the government, providing consultancy, implementation services and turnkey project execution services in the field of telecommunications, IT, power, and civil & architecture.

• Incepted in 1978, TCIL is a torch-bearer of Indian telecom innovation, introducing new technologies in telecom software, switching and transmission systems, cellular services, rural telecommunications, optical fiber-based backbone transmission systems, etc.

• TCIL has executed projects in around 80 countries across the globe. Most of the projects are large turnkey projects for country governments, ministries, public sector undertakings and private organisations. 

• TCIL has a global presence with large projects within India, South Asia, Far East, Middle East, Africa, Europe and the US. 

• TCIL’s core business is creating connections through communication with a vision to excel in providing solutions in information and communication technology, power and infrastructure sectors, globally by anticipating opportunities in technology.

• TCIL has been working on information and communications technology (ICT) in education projects for more than a decade, providing turnkey solutions for computer aided classrooms, smart virtual and digital classrooms, cloud and video conferencing solutions.

• The ICT@Schools programme is the largest government funded digital literacy programme bringing digital skills to as many as 2.5 million young students in semi urban and rural areas. 

• In October 2019, TCIL launched e-VidyaBharti (Tele-education) and e-ArogyaBharti (Telemedicine) projects operating in more than 15 African countries.

• Another noteworthy initiative is the TETRA project - Terrestrial Trunked Radio over traditional PMR (Professional Mobile Radio).
