• The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed a pact for cooperation in the diverse areas of telecom and ICT, to spur indigenous technological design and development.
• The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides was signed at the SemiconIndia 2022 event at Bengaluru.
• Both C-DOT and C-DAC have agreed to collaborate and work jointly, in identification and development of activities in the areas of 4G/5G, broadband, IOT/M2M (Internet of Things/Machine to Machine), packet core, computing amongst others.
• Specific project agreements will be signed as and when required to enumerate the specific roles and responsibilities.
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC)
• Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is a premier R&D organisation of the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) for carrying out R&D in IT, electronics and associated areas.
• It was established in March 1988, as a Scientific Society of the Department of Information Technology.
• In addition to carrying out research and development in high performance computing, the R&D of C-DAC expanded to various other areas such as cloud computing, multilingual computing, heritage computing, professional electronics and quantum computing, cybersecurity and cyber forensics, health informatics, software technologies and education related to these technologies.
• C-DAC Advanced Computing Training School (ACTS) is a well-known brand in the area of high-end training in electronics and IT in the country.
Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)
• Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) is an autonomous telecom research & development body funded by the department of telecommunication.
• It was established in 1984 under the Society Registration Act XXI in 1984 to design and develop indigenous switching technology.
• C-DOT is presently engaged in developing state-of-the-art telecommunication technology to meet the needs of the Indian telecommunication network.
• It has offices in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
• As a torchbearer of indigenous telecom R&D, C-DOT continues to develop latest technology products in areas like optical, switching, wireless, security and network management while working on technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence, etc.
• C-DOT is appraised at CMMI Level 5 for its process practices for the development projects.
