Govt launches Rashtriya Puraskar Portal

The government has developed a common portal — Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (https://awards.gov.in).

What is the purpose of this portal?

• Several civilian awards have been instituted by various ministries/departments/agencies of the government of India to recognise people who have excelled in their fields and worked with dedication for selfless service to society.

• The portal is an initiative to bring together all national awards of the various ministries/departments/agencies of the government under one digital platform reflecting transparency, accountability, and public partnership (jan bhagidari).

• It aims to facilitate citizens to nominate individuals/organisations for various awards instituted by the government to recognise and award them for their exceptional contributions in their respective fields.

• With this portal, for the first time, information regarding all national awards would be available to the public on a single digital platform including their eligibility criteria, selection procedure, and details of past awardees.

• Also, people will be able to make nominations for various awards on a single platform, which is simple and user-friendly.

• The portal is currently receiving nominations and recommendations for various awards.

• While the last date for nominations and recommendations for the Padma Awards is September 15, it is September 30 for the National Award for Excellence in Forestry 2022.

• The last date for the National Gopal Ratna Award 2022 is also September 15 which is also the last date for the National Water Awards 2022. For the Nari Shakti Puraskar 2023, the last date is October 31.

• For the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2023, the last date is August 31.
