India ranks 80th in Henley Passport Index

• With visa-free access to 57 destinations, India’s passport is ranked at 80 in the latest Henley Passport Index. India was ranked at 85 in last year’s Index.

• Singapore has claimed the top spot as the world’s most powerful passport. It has visa-free access to 192 travel destinations out of 227 around the globe. 

• Germany, Italy, and Spain jointly hold the second rank, offering visa-free access to 190 destinations.

• Japan, which was the top spot in last year’s Index, has slipped to the third spot along with Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea and Sweden.

• India’s current ranking places it alongside countries such as Togo and Senegal.

• Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan are at the bottom of the Index.

• The Henley Passport Index is a ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The Index is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and enhanced by Henley & Partners’ research team.
