UPSC extends deadline to apply for CSE prelims till Feb 18

• The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has extended the last date to apply for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 till February 18.

• The last date for registration for Indian Forest Service (Preliminary)-2025 exams has also been extended till February 18.

• Earlier, the last date to apply for the exam online was February 11, 2025 till 6 pm.

• Candidates are required to apply online by using the website http://upsconline.gov.in.

• The Civil Services Preliminary Examination will be held on May 25.

• This year, the UPSC Civils Services is set to fill a total of 979 vacancies across different service cadres.

• The examination is conducted annually in three stages — preliminary, mains and interview — to select officers of Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, among others.

• The Prelims exam will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice questions) of 200 marks each. 

• This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only; the marks obtained in the Prelims exam by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
