• India and Denmark have reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable energy development by signing a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate clean energy initiatives.
• The agreement, signed on May 2, supports India’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 while enhancing bilateral cooperation in renewable energy and green technology.
• The renewed agreement builds upon the success of the original MoU signed on June 5, 2020, which was set to expire in June 2025.
• The updated partnership broadens its scope to include advanced areas such as power system modelling, integration of variable renewable energy (VRE), cross-border electricity trading, and the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
• Additionally, the MoU facilitates knowledge exchange through expert engagements, joint training programmes, and study tours, ensuring continuous technological and policy-level collaboration.
• The partnership not only strengthens bilateral ties but also positions both nations as key players in the global transition to clean energy.
• Over the past five years, the collaboration has enabled significant advancements in renewable energy integration, and the renewed MoU ensures uninterrupted progress in this critical sector.
• By leveraging Denmark’s experience in wind energy, grid stability, and sustainable urban planning, India aims to enhance its renewable energy capacity and infrastructure.
