India, France to begin ‘Shakti’ military exercise from June 18

• The eighth edition of ‘Exercise Shakti’ between the militaries of India and France is scheduled to be held from June 18 to July 1.

• It will be held at La Cavalerie in France.

• The aim of the exercise is to enhance joint military capability of both sides to undertake multi domain operations in a sub-conventional scenario.

• The joint exercise will facilitate developing interoperability, bonhomie and camaraderie between armies of both the nations.

• Exercise Shakti commenced in the year 2011. 

Bilateral exercises with France:

• Varuna - Bilateral naval exercise between Indian Navy and French Navy.

• Garuda - Bilateral exercise between Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF).

• Shakti - Bilateral exercise between the armies of India and France.

• FRINJEX - Joint military exercise.
