President Murmu presents SCOPE Eminence Awards

• President Droupadi Murmu conferred SCOPE Eminence Awards for the year 2022-23 in New Delhi on August 29. 

• The event was organised by the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), with the support of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance.

• President Murmu said that the public sector has been a powerful vehicle for economic development and social inclusion. She expressed confidence that CPSEs will play a crucial role in achieving the national goal of building a developed India by 2047.

Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE)

• Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), was formed in 1973.

• It aims to promote competitiveness and excellence amongst its members by enhancing their efficiencies and operational capacities with the help of conducive policies and strategies.

• SCOPE, with its novel initiatives, has developed into an impactful body expanding its horizon to four pillars — policy advocacy, programmes & workshops, capacity building and skill development & brand building.

• Representing PSEs through policy advocacy with government authorities — statutory & regulatory bodies — has been one of the key objectives of SCOPE. 

Nationally, SCOPE is closely associated with:

i) Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance

ii) Ministry of Labour and Employment

iii) Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship

iv) Ministry of Corporate Affairs

v) Statutory and regulatory bodies such as Central Information Commission (CIC), Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Competition Commission of India (CCI), etc.

• Internationally, SCOPE has been representing employers’ organisations on international forums such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO); United Nations (UN); Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and International Organization of Employers (IOE).

• SCOPE has also collaborated with nationally and internationally acclaimed academic institutes, professional organisations for joint studies and research projects on pertinent subjects including women empowerment, climate change, leadership, skills, lifelong learning, digitalisation, etc.
