Corps of Signals celebrates its 116th Raising Day

• The Corps of Signals of the Indian Army celebrated its 116th Raising Day on February 15.

• The Corps of Signals looks after Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support for the Indian Army across the length and breadth of the country encompassing harsh glacial terrain to vast desert expanses and remote inhospitable jungle terrain.

• Since its inception on February 15, 1911, Corps of Signals has transformed the communications of the Indian Army and kept pace with the digital revolution.

• The Corps shoulders the onerous responsibility of providing the Indian Army with peace time static communications as well as combat communications during operations.

• In order to meet the communication challenges of the Indian Army, the Corps of Signals has established a nation-wide army owned network to provide reliable and responsive real time communications, reaffirming their motto “Teevra Chaukas” meaning “Swift and Sure”.

• The last three decades have seen major advances in computing, IT and communication technologies and the same are being effectively harnessed by the Corps of Signals for smooth and successful conduct of operations in the digitalised battlespace.

• Today, the Corps is well poised to exploit the state-of-the art modern communication techniques for meeting the challenging requirements of the Indian Army to operate in a multi-dimensional threat environment across the entire spectrum of conflict.
