• AINRC founder N.Rangasamy took oath as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time.
• Malladi Krishna Rao from the regional party and A. Namassivayam of the BJP, also took oath as ministers in the AINRC-led NDA government.
• Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the CM and his cabinet colleagues.
• Elections for 30 seats were held on April 9. The territorial assembly also has three nominated members to the House.
• The All India NR Congress (AINRC) emerged victorious in 12 of the 16 seats it contested, and the BJP won four seats. Other NDA constituents, the AIADMK and the Latchia Jananayaga Katchi (LJK) won one seat each, taking the alliance’s tally to 18 in the 30-member House. Besides, there would be three nominated members.
• The opposition DMK won five seats and the Congress one. The TVK won two seats.
• President Droupadi Murmu appointed N. Rangasamy as the Chief Minister of Puducherry.
• Following the notification, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan invited Rangasamy to form the government.
• Rangasamy became the CM for the first time in 2001 after the Congress party won the Assembly elections.
• He got a second term in 2006 but resigned in 2008.
• He floated his All India NR Congress in 2011 and formed the government.
• Rangasamy became opposition leader in 2016.
• He was sworn in as CM for a fourth time in 2021.
