• Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu resigned from the Union Council of Ministers on July 24.
• President Droupadi Murmu, as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has accepted the resignation of Ravneet Singh Bittu from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under Article 75(2) of the Constitution.
• Article 75 (2) states that - The Ministers shall hold office during the pleasure of the President.
• The Punjab BJP leader had been a part of the Union Council of Ministers since 2024.
• Grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, he joined the BJP in 2024 and unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections.
• He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
