• Saikhom Mirabai Chanu clinched her third successive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg category weightlifting in Glasgow on July 26.
• The 31-year-old broke the Games records in all three categories — snatch, clean and jerk and overall total.
• She lifted a commanding 190kg, with a best effort of 85kg in snatch and 105kg in clean and jerk.
• It was Mirabai’s fourth Commonwealth Games medal, having won silver in the 48kg category at Glasgow 2014 before striking gold at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022.
• Born on August 8, 1994, the weightlifting star from Manipur has won silver in Tokyo Olympics.
• She was awarded Padma Shri in 2018.
• In 2018, Chanu was conferred with the country’s highest sporting honour — Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (which was later renamed as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award).
