Amit Shah presents President’s Colour to Puducherry Police

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the President’s Colour to Puducherry Police on August 9.

• On May 8, President Droupadi Murmu had announced the conferment of the honour on Puducherry police in recognition of its exceptional service, discipline and distinguished achievements.

• Shah presented the President’s Colour to the force’s Ensign Officer at an official event held at the Puducherry Armed Police Ground in Gorimedu. 

• Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy were also present.

• Puducherry Police joined a list of police forces across the country who have been bestowed with the President’s Colour.

President of India’s Police Colour

• The President of India’s Police Colour is the highest ceremonial honour bestowed upon a state or central police force in India in recognition of exceptional service, bravery, and professionalism.

• This prestigious honour is symbolised with a special flag, popularly known as ‘Nishan’. In Hindi, it is known as ‘Rashtrapati ka Nishan’.

• The officers of the state police honoured with the President’s Police Colour are authorised to wear a special emblem on the uniform.

• It symbolises the national recognition, courage, excellence and distinguished service of the Police Forces, Central Police Organisations and training academies/institutes. 

• It acknowledges the distinguished service including achievements in combat, humanitarian operations, training skill and infrastructure of the recipient organisations.
