Jitin Prasada participates in G20 Innovation Ministerial

• Union Minister Jitin Prasada participated in the G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina held on September 1 and 2.

• India joined the United States and 24 other countries to ensure that next generation networks reflect shared security interests, strengthen competitiveness, and drive innovation in 6G.

• The US Department of Commerce and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy hosted the event. 

• At the conclusion of the Ministerial, G20 Ministers released a consensus statement recognising that “emerging technologies have the potential to unlock prosperity, enhance productivity, and expand opportunity for all our peoples”.

The statement articulates shared principles across six pillars: 

i) Pro-innovation policy frameworks.

ii) Technology for opportunity and prosperity.

iii) Skilled technical workforce development.

iv) Intellectual property policies for artificial intelligence.

v) AI for standards and standards for AI.

vi) Industrial innovation and investment in supply chains. 

• Union Minister Jitin Prasada’s engagements during the visit underscored India’s growing role in shaping the global technology and innovation agenda and reaffirmed its commitment to building strategic partnerships that translate advances in AI, semiconductors, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), robotics and other emerging technologies into greater opportunities for innovation, economic growth and an improved quality of life for its citizens.
