India, Sri Lanka conduct 13th edition of SLINEX exercise

• Navies of India and Sri Lanka conducted the 13th edition of bilateral maritime exercise —  SLINEX — at Visakhapatnam from September 17 to 21.

• The exercise commenced with the harbour phase, which was followed by the sea phase.

• INS Kavaratti, an indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, and INS Jyoti, the Fleet Tanker,  participate from the Indian Navy, while SLNS Sindurala represented the Sri Lanka Navy.

• Conceptualised in 2005, Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX) is a bilateral exercise that has strengthened maritime cooperation between the two nations over two decades.

• It has evolved into an important forum for fostering maritime cooperation, interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies.

• Aligned with India’s vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions (MAHASAGAR), SLINEX-26 reinforces India’s commitment to a secure, stable and inclusive maritime environment and further consolidates the enduring maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka.
