• India pulled off the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history, hunting down West Indies’ massive target of 406 in just 43.3 overs.
• Gill produced a landmark innings, scoring an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls, bringing up his double-century off just 117 balls, breaking the record for the fastest double-hundred in ODI history.
• He broke Ishan Kishan’s record of 126 balls for the fastest-ever double century in the format.
• The 27-year-old also broke several other records, such as the highest score in a successful chase in ODIs and the fastest hundred for an Indian captain in ODIs which he notched up in 62 balls.
• Opener Rohit Sharma scored his 35th ODI century (101 off 75 balls).
• During his knock, Rohit also passed 12,000 ODI runs. Rohit joins an illustrious list of batters that includes Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardena.
• At 39 years old, he became the oldest Indian batter to score an ODI ton.
• The West Indies had earlier posted 405/7, riding on centuries from John Campbell (101), Shai Hope (104) and Amir Jangoo (114).
