India, Russia kick-start ‘Indra’ naval exercise

• India and Russia kick-started the 14th edition of naval exercise — Indra — at Vladivostok on October 13.

• Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri is participating in the bilateral exercise between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy (RuFN). It will conclude on October 18.

• Since its inception in 2003, exercise Indra epitomises the long-term strategic relationship between the two navies.

• Indra exercise will comprise engagements during the harbour phase followed by coordinated operational activities at sea.

• The participation of INS Sahyadri is in consonance with the government of India’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) and builds upon the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between India and Russia.
