Ricky Kej wins third Grammy Award, Beyonce breaks record

• Music composer Ricky Kej, based out of Bengaluru, has won his third Grammy Award for the album ‘Divine Tides’.

• The US-born musician shared the award with Stewart Copeland, the drummer of the iconic British rock band The Police, who collaborated with Kej on the album.

• At the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, the duo earned the gramophone trophy in the best immersive audio album winner category. They had won a Grammy in the best new age album category for the same album last year.

• ‘Divine Tides’ is a nine-song album that aims to deliver the message that “each individual life plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance that serves all equally”.

• Kej took home his first Grammy in the best new age album category for ‘Winds of Samsara’ back in 2015.

Beyonce wins her 32nd award

• Harry Styles won the coveted Grammy for Album of the Year. The pop sensation scored the award for his third album ‘Harry’s House’.

• Pop superstar Beyonce broke the record for most career wins at Grammy awards. Beyonce added four Grammys to her collection, bringing her lifetime total to 32 and surpassing the tally of late classical conductor Georg Solti.

• Beyonce won for best R&B song for ‘Cuff It’, dance-electric music recording for ‘Break My Soul’, traditional R&B performance for ‘Plastic Off the Sofa’ and dance-electric album for ‘Renaissance’

• Lizzo’s upbeat ‘About Damn Time’ won record of the year.

• Blues singer Bonnie Raitt’s ‘Just Like That’, about an organ donor, won song of the year award.

• Winners were chosen by roughly 11,000 members of the Recording Academy.

• American jazz singer Samara Joy was named best new artist.
