‘Anora’ wins Best Picture at 97th Academy Awards

• ‘Anora’ was crowned the Best Picture at the 97th Academy Awards on March 3.

• Directed by Sean Baker, ‘Anora’ is the tale of an erotic dancer who elopes with the son of a Russian oligarch and was made for just $6 million.

• Sean Baker, the filmmaker of ‘Anora’, won Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing awards. 

• Adrien Brody claimed his second Best Actor Oscar for his role as a Jewish immigrant and architect who chases the American dream in ‘The Brutalist’.  The 51-year-old New York City native had previously won for ‘The Pianist’, when he became the youngest best actor winner at age 29.

• Mikey Madison won Best Actress for her breakthrough performance in ‘Anora’. 

• Zoe Saldana was named Best Supporting Actress for her role as the fixer for a Mexican drug lord in ‘Emilia Perez’, a Spanish-language musical.

• Kieran Culkin received the Best Supporting Actor award for playing one of two cousins who travel to Poland to study their family's roots in ‘A Real Pain’.

• ‘Flow’, the wordless Latvian film, won the award for Best Animated Film. The win for ‘Flow’, an ecological parable about a cat in a flooded world, was the first Oscar ever for a Latvian film.

• Best Cinematography: Lol Crawley (The Brutalist)

• Best Documentary Short Film: The Only Girl in the Orchestra

• Best Sound: Dune: Part Two (Gareth John, Richard King, Ron Bartlett and Doug Hemphill)

• Best Production Design: Wicked

• Best Makeup and Hairstyling: The Substance (Pierre-Olivier Persin, Stephanie Guillon and Marilyne Scarselli)

• Best Film Editing: Sean Baker (Anora)

• Best Live Action Short Film: I’m Not a Robot

• Best Animated Short Film: In the Shadow of the Cypress.
