Govt to equip all trains with Kavach 4.0 by Dec 2030
A target has been set up to establish the automatic train protection system — Kavach 4.O — across the country by December, 2030.
The Kavach is an Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system developed indigenously by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO).
Kavach prevents trains from passing a red signal, indicating danger, and avoids collisions. It automatically activates the train’s braking system if the driver fails to adhere to speed restrictions.
The system prevents collisions between two locomotives equipped with functional Kavach systems.
