India, Kuwait elevate ties to ‘Strategic Partnership’
India and Kuwait elevated their ties to a ‘Strategic Partnership’, inked a key pact on boosting defence cooperation and vowed to soon finalise an ambitious investment treaty.
PM Modi’s visit to Kuwait was the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years. The last Indian PM to visit Kuwait was Indira Gandhi in 1981.
Kuwait conferred its highest honour — The Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer — on PM Modi for his role in strengthening the good relations between the two countries.
The ‘Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer’ is a knighthood order of Kuwait. PM Modi received the honour from Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait City.
